Message from the President and signage approved: February 1975

Although the February 1975 Network News didn't include any photos of Building 2 — there will be more photos in the March update — it included the following message from Jeff Wilkins and a note about Upper Arlington's approval of signage.

Message from the President

Jeff Wilkins

J.M. Wilkins

To the COMPU-SERV TEAM:

Everyone in the home office and our visiting field people have been following the progress of our new addition with great anticipation. It is a building designed to perform two main functions: provide increased working space and facilities for our rapidly growing company and also project a professional and successful image to our customers, prospects and prospective employees. The first function is obvious — space and facilities make possible additional service capabilities for our business and personnel. The second function is not always obvious to everyone, but it is a fact that successful companies prefer doing business with other successful companies. And most people judge success on appearance rather than on underlying factual financial data. Now we are fortunate to project our successful growth in both appearance and financial performance.

However, there are inherent dangers in focusing on cosmetic features only. It is the same vulnerability an athlete faces when reading his own press releases. He might begin to believe all the printed items and ignore the basics that contributed to his success. The same is true within COMPU-SERV — we must always remember what has made us grow… the TEAM concept… the idea that you become successful by making those around you successful… recognizing that we are only as good as our ability to serve our customers — in short, the BASICS.

I hope you will join me in sharing the pride in what we have built together and how part of that is manifested in an ever expanding building program. And please also join me in constantly assessing what makes it all possible and in working harder than ever to strengthen the basics which have helped make everything possible.

Signage for Compu-Serv addition approved

The following was a February 25, 1975 press release, also printed in the February 1975 Network News.

SIGNAGE FOR COMPU-SERV ADDITION APPROVED

On February 10, 1975, Upper Arlington City Council approved a request for signage submitted by COMPU-SERV NETWORK, Inc., a national network information services firm, located in the Arlington Centre complex.

Signage includes the corporate name and logo on the face of the building as well as several free standing utility signs.

It was the first time Upper Arlington City Council ever approved a sign which included a logo. The signage was designed by project architects, Harpham-Elmer Partnership.
